NEP 2020 at MGM University: Benefits for UG Students and Future Growth

Introduction:
NEP 2020 has been gradually implemented in MGM University which has brought a lot of reforms and adopted a flexible curriculum structure that is student centric at undergraduate level. Now students need not follow the rigid system, rather they can acquire different basic knowledge that would help them to achieve their dreams ,hobbies further that would help them in future.
Framework of NEP:
NEP has provided the freedom to the students to explore their interests and make learning more meaningful and engage them in order to achieve their future careers and selecting PG level courses.

A) Open Electives:
It is also known as expanding Learning Horizons where University offers courses
outside a student’s primary field of study. These allow students to choose subjects based on their interests rather than being confined to a specific discipline.
This allows the students to acquire the basic knowledge of other subjects every semester.
For example, students of commerce can select any subject in journalism, engineering, pottery, data science etc vise versa.
B) Multidisciplinary approach:
MDA is a combination of subjects of different areas that help them think more creatively and understand a better and practical solution for the real world.
C) Major–Minor System:
The major–minor structure allows students to specialize in one primary and deep understanding of the subject (major) while gaining foundational knowledge in another area (minor).
