Geology is the study of the Earth, its environment, natural resources and evolution of life on it. Geoscientists study the processes that form the Earth and everything on it and in it, including volcanoes, earthquakes, oceans, mountains, rocks, minerals either economic or Gemstone, Geothermal energy, fossils and fuels, atmospheric conditions, and biological evolution in the past.
This undergraduate curriculum consists of theory and experimental courses from Geology including Field training. Also advance multidisciplinary approach such as data analytics and remote sensing along with Computer Skills which are essential to the geologist.
The programme emphasises the foundations of Geology. Different types of rock (Petrology), Different types of Minerals (Minerology) introducing contemporary topics such as Ground water, Engineering Geology, Environmental, Exploration Geophysics Geology.
Scope
After completing this course, applicants will have a wide range of work prospects in Geotechnical, groundwater exploration, Field Survey and mineral exploration. Also eligible for several Comitative exams taken by Central as well as State Government. Farther studies M.Sc. Geology, M.Sc. Applied Geology, M.Sc. Geoinformatics,
If student get more than 75 percentiles (CGPA) (i. e. Degree Honours with Research) at graduation he or she will be eligible Research degree (Ph.D.)
If student completed 3 year programme (i.e., B.Sc. Geology) then he will be eligible for M.Sc. Geology , 2-year programme.(four Semester)
If student completed 4 Year B.Sc. programme (i.e. B.Sc. Honours) then student will be eligible For M.Sc. direct Second year (only two Semester)
Students will have the flexibility to enter a Four years multidisciplinary UnderGraduate Programme in odd semesters and exit a programme after the successful completion of even semesters as per their future career needs. Students will get a Certificate after a One-year programme, a Diploma after Two years, a bachelor’s degree after Three years, and a bachelor’s degree with Honours OR Research with Honours after Four years.
