Prof. (Dr.) Unnat P. Pandit,
Controller General of Patents, Designs & Trade Marks (CGPDTM)
Prof. (Dr.) Unnat P. Pandit is a distinguished intellectual property professional,
academician, and innovation leader, serving as the Controller General of Patents,
Designs & Trade Marks (CGPDTM) under the Department for Promotion of Industry and
Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. He is
also a Professor of Intellectual Property, Innovation and Entrepreneurship at
Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, and a member of the IPR Think Tank.
With over two decades of experience spanning government, academia, industry, and
research, he has made significant contributions to strengthening India’s
intellectual property ecosystem, promoting innovation, and fostering
entrepreneurship. His professional journey includes serving as Program Director of
the Atal Innovation Mission at NITI Aayog and working in the pharmaceutical
industry. With academic qualifications in medicinal chemistry and law, Prof. Pandit
is committed to translating research and innovative ideas into impactful commercial
ventures, nurturing startups, and empowering the next generation of innovators.

Dr. Raghunath Mashelkar
Honorary Degree (D.Sc.) Conferred upon former Director General of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), recipient of Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, Padma Shri.
Dr. Raghunath Anant Mashelkar is known for his world-class scientific
research in polymer science and engineering, transformative leadership of national
research institutions, and pioneering contributions to intellectual property rights,
traditional knowledge protection, and inclusive innovation. He has been an
influential thought leader in shaping science, technology, and innovation policies
in post-liberalised India.
Throughout his illustrious career, Dr. Mashelkar has made outstanding
contributions to scientific research, technological advancement, and national
development. He has authored 25 books and 284 research papers and has been conferred
honorary doctorates by 55 universities in India and abroad. He has actively
contributed to the Government of India by chairing 12 highly empowered committees,
popularly known as the ‘Mashelkar Committees’, and has served as a member of the
Scientific Advisory Council to the Prime Minister. His pioneering work in
innovation, intellectual property, and research has earned him numerous national and
international honours, including the Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, Padma Shri, the
Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology, and the Business Week Star
of Asia Award.
Dr. Mashelkar is the third Indian engineer to be inducted as a Fellow of the Royal
Society, UK, and the first Indian to be elected as a Fellow of the National Academy
of Inventors, USA. His contributions have established him as one of India's most
respected scientific leaders and global advocates for innovation and research.
He has played a significant role in promoting grassroots innovation,
strengthening India's research ecosystem, and advancing the concept of Gandhian
Engineering, which focuses on creating affordable, sustainable, and inclusive
solutions for society. Through his leadership and vision, he continues to inspire
researchers, entrepreneurs, students, and institutions to pursue excellence in
science, technology, and innovation.

Prof. (Dr.) A. H. Salunkhe,
Prof. Dr. A. H. Salunkhe is an eminent scholar, distinguished thinker,
renowned author whose intellectual contributions span literature, philosophy,
history, religion and social thought. Born on June 1, 1943, at Shivajinagar
(formerly Khadewadi), Taluka Tasgaon, District Sangli, he holds M.A. degrees in
Marathi and Sanskrit and a Ph.D. in Sanskrit, with his doctoral research focusing on
a critical study of Charvaka philosophy. He stood first in both his B.A. and M.A.
(Sanskrit) examinations at Shivaji University and was awarded the National
Scholarship by the Government of India. He served for 32 years as a teacher of
Sanskrit and Marathi at Lal Bahadur Shastri College, Satara, and subsequently
contributed to higher education through various academic responsibilities, including
serving as Chairman of the Board of Sanskrit Studies and Dean of the Faculty of Arts
at Shivaji University, Kolhapur. He has also chaired and participated in several
literary, historical and intellectual conferences across Maharashtra.
Dr. Salunkhe has made a significant contribution to Marathi intellectual and
literary discourse through his books, research, translations and critical writings.
His scholarship reflects a sustained engagement with Indian philosophy, Sanskrit
literature, social reform, rational thought and the traditions of Satyashodhak and
progressive intellectual movements. He has authored around one hundred articles for
the Marathi Vishwakosh on Sanskrit and Comparative Religion and has translated
important works from English and Sanskrit into Marathi. His distinguished literary
and intellectual journey has been recognised through numerous honours, including the
Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Puraskar of the Government of Maharashtra, Kalidas Sanskrit
Sadhana Puraskar, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Dalit Mitra Puraskar, Padmashri Dr. Vikhhe
Patil Lifetime Literary Achievement Puraskar, Rajarshi Shahu Puraskar and several
other state-level and national literary and social honours.

- Please bring this invitation card with you.
- You are requested to be seated before 09:30 A.M. and remain seated till the convocation procession retires.
- This invitation card is non-transferable.
- During the Convocation, please keep your mobile switched off.
- Please rise and remain standing while ceremonial procession arrives and retires.
- Please stand in attention at the time of rendition of the National Anthem & the University Song.
- Only official photographer will be allowed to take photographs during the Ceremony.
- The Convocation Ceremony is a solemn occasion, please observe silence.
- Please join for Lunch after the Convocation.
