Community Science: Bridging Knowledge and Sustainable Development

The Department of Community Science functions as an academic space where scientific knowledge is connected with everyday life and community realities. The discipline of Community Science evolved from the understanding that individual well-being, family stability and community development are closely interlinked. Within this framework, the department works to integrate principles of nutrition, food science, human development, textiles, resource management, and extension education to enhance the quality of life of individuals and communities.

Community science is inherently multidisciplinary. It brings together biological sciences, social sciences, management principles, and applied technologies to address concerns such as nutrition security, public health, sustainable livelihoods, child development, family welfare, and women's empowerment. The department emphasizes the practical application of knowledge so that students can translate theory into meaningful interventions at the grassroots and institutional levels.
