Foundation Certificate in Music - 2 Years (4 semesters)

Vocal Music / Instrumental Music

Tabla, Pakhawaj, Sitar, Sarod, Flute, Sarangi, Veena, Mardal, etc

Certificate program is of 2 years (4 semesters) duration that are suitable for part-time students and young musicians. The program can be taken by students of Music - vocal and melodic/percussion instrument (Pakhawaj, Tabla, flute, sitar, sarod, veena, Sarangi, Mardal, etc)

  • Training system is an ideal blend of traditional Gurukul training and contemporary trends in education.
  • The program helps the learner develop a foundation and conceptual understanding of the chosen form of music and vadya tradition.
  • The curriculum facilitates introduction to the Indian Music Heritage, history of the music and fundamental concepts of Indian music.
  • The learner is trained to understand the salient features of Indian music, understand the rendition in vocal and instrumental music and blend concepts from theory and practice during the training program.

Program Structure

  1. Duration : Two Years, Part Time Program
  2. Pattern : Semester System (2 semesters in each year, total 4 semesters).
  3. Gurukul Pattern, Gurukul ambience.
  4. Dance residencies, intense 'Riyaaz' (practice) sessions with live music.
  5. Periodic workshops, symposiums.
  6. International & National seminars.
  7. Performance opportunities.
  8. Study tours / visits to organizations of cultural importance.
  9. Visiting Gurus, experts, scholars, artists.
  10. Opportunities to witness many dance performances.
  11. Engaging a contemplative dialogue by referring to the Library with a wide range of learning/reference material: books, periodicals, online journals, AV resources and archival content of MAHAGAMI.
  12. Cultural & Social outreach.
  13. Credit based learning.
  14. Evaluation through written tests, practical, project submissions.

Eligibility

Candidate should have passed minimum class X.

General aptitude to learn music (No prior training required)

Basic understanding to respond to rhythm, music.

Fee Structure

  • Application fees : INR 1000, For foreign nationals & NRIs : USD 70.
  • Tuition fees : INR 15,000 Per year, For foreign nationals & NRIs : USD 250 Per Year.
