Program Outline

Master of Performing Arts (MPA) in Odissi Dance – 

3 years (6 semesters)

Kalā Kovid Odissi | कला कोविद् उडीसी

MPA programs are of 3 years duration that is ideal for professional dancers and senior dance learners aspiring to create a niche for themselves in the creative world. In addition to theory and practical in the chosen dance form, many Generic courses like Choreography, Musicology, Dance Iconography, Dance Paintings, Indology, Ancient History; Elective courses like music, vadya, theatre, dance writing will be taught to the learners. After completing M.P.A, there are openings as Choreographer, Dance Teacher, Event organiser, Performer, dance writer, etc and also in Fitness & Therapy centres or research centres. Those with academic inclinations can pursue PhD program after completion of MPA.

3 Years: 6 Semesters

Including 1 Year of Bridge Course

Program Structure

  • Duration : Three Years including Bridge Course 1 Year
  • Pattern : Semester System (2 semesters in each level, total 6 semesters)
  • Choice-based credit system
  • Gurukul Pattern, Gurukul ambience
  • Dance residencies, intense ‘Riyaaz’ (practice) sessions with live music

Eligibility

Graduate in any discipline with minimum marks 50% and minimum 6-7 years of recent training in chosen dance form and stage experience

Fee Structure

  •  Application fees : INR 1000, For foreign nationals & NRIs : USD 70.
  • Tuition fees : INR 70,000 Per year, For foreign nationals & NRIs : USD 1,000 Per Year.

Admission Procedure

  • Fill and Submit the Online Application form on the website page

  • Applicants should appear and qualify in the Entrance Test (CET)
  • Second round of selection will be through Dance Audition
  • Applicants should be able to give a 15-min demonstration of Nritta (Pallavi or any other pure dance) and one Abhinaya (Nritya)
