We always find it very interesting to see , how we human being are eager to picturize and document things around us since pre historic period. It may be scribblings engraved on the ancient cave walls or a super fine film captured on the IMAX camera, but it is undoubtedly the sheer passion of showing everyone how we see and perceive the world around us. This is one of the primary urge of a mankind to express. It is even more interesting to see how we evolve from a cave scribbling to film making how ever since that is not the core interest of our work I may mention 2 or 3 things whenever it is necessary to get into the core subject of our discussion.
Let’s see how we see
If you observe the image given , you will be able to understand the process of how we see things and how images appears into our eye. When the light falls onto the surface of any object , it reflects back the similar or lesser amount of light back. This reflected light enters into our eye through pupil, and through the eye lens it creates an image on our retina , the nerves system then carry this sensation to the brain , then the brain analyzes the image and remarks it as that particular object. Once we understand this , it is easy for us to understand the Camera mechanism as they both work on the similar fundamentals.
With the help of this second image you can observe the similar mechanism in human eye and the camera. While observing it carefully you will realize as the human eye have pupil, iris, lens and retina similarly the camera too have aperture, diaphragm, lens, image plane etc.
While discussing these we must have by know understand one thing that the ‘light’ seems to be playing a crucial part in all this seeing business. Then the question very obviously arises that, what is ‘light’ ? Well and the answer is, ” Light is made up of ‘Photons’ and these photons are ‘ partical wave of electro-magnatic charge”
Light travel through the lens and create image onto the image plane situated in the camera, the medium on which this image is being recorded is the medium of the camera, for instance if the image is captured on film format then it is a film camera, if it is captured on electro magnetic tape then it is video format, and if it is captured digitally then it is the digital camera.
